FIRM PROFILE Varela Inc, / Architecture ( VIA) is an architecture, planning,
interiors, marketing and business development firm with special
capabilities in programming, design, construction documents, and
administration of the construction phases. VIA’s extensive
experience includes knowledge of complex policy procedural
requirements of domestic and foreign clients.
ALFONSO VARELA, PRINCIPAL
EDUCATION Bachelor of Architecture-University of Texas at Austin, 1972, With
High Honors University of Americas, Mexico City, Mexico
EXPERIENCE Founding principal of VIA, which was begun in
1983. Alfonso Varela has been engaged in professional practice for
over 39 years. A
highest honors graduate at the University of Texas, he is an award
winning architectural designer with national and international
recognition, designing more than 20 million square feet of space
with a construction value in excess of $2 billion. Prior to the
formation of the firm, he held lead design positions with Caudill
Rowlett Scott. S.I. Morris, James Sink Associates and
3D/International, the last in which he held the title of the lead
designer and senior associate. Alfonso Varela’s projects are located
throughout the United States, the Middle East, the Far East, and
Latin America.
Since 1983 he has also held a partnership in both land development (Toscana Development)
and property management (Varela Interest Inc.) firms and has acted as fund raising partner
in SOTEX, an independent oil and gas company. Representative experience includes:
